Pets of the Week
Adoptable pets looking for a fresh start
Here are our Pets of the Week, a small spotlight on animals who are still waiting for the families they deserve. Each of these pets is currently available for adoption through the Franklin County Humane Society, and each one has a story, a personality, and so much love left to give. Some have been waiting longer than others, but all are ready for a fresh start. If one of these faces speaks to you, you can learn more about the adoption process and how to apply on our adoption page.
Finley
Looking for a happy-go-lucky puppy? Check out Finley! This 19 week old charmer is the perfect age to train and travel with. He’ll be a medium-sized dog and he sports a no-fuss coat that resembles formal wear. He loves everyone he meets (human, canine, and feline) and is a joy to be around.
Frank
Who could resist this face? Frank is a sweet, loving 19 week old mix who would make an excellent family pet. Currently, he’s only 25 pounds and so we don’t expect him to get too large as he ages. He sports a soft, wavy black and white coat and clearly has retriever or spaniel in him because he wants to carry and play with toys, pine cones, and branches. If you are looking for a handsome, smart family dog, you can’t go wrong with Frank.
Loretta
Talk about a sweetheart. Loretta is a 6 month old labrador mix with a stunning black/brindle coat. She’s great on the leash and small enough to easily go anywhere with you. She’s always smiling and sweet. She also gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t even notice cats.
Gerald
Gerald is a gorgeous 6 month old Labrador Retriever cross with a rich, chocolate coat. He’s sweet, great on the leash, and loves other dogs. He’d make an excellent companion for any family and always has a smile on his face. Plus, he’s medium-sized and super easy to travel with.
Admiral
Admiral is our newest resident and we are smitten! This 2 year old Lab mix has more personality than he knows what to do with. He is happy and engaging with a bright and open expression and friendly temperament. He’d make a great hiking or camping partner or all-around family pet.
Sam
Scrappy and Sam are 5-6 yr old best friends who have grown up together. Scrappy is a Dachshund mix and Sam is a JRT mix and both are friendly, happy guys. It’s not mandatory they be adopted together but if someone would, we’ll waive the adoption fee for one of them. These boys are house trained, crate trained and walk well on leash. They like other dogs, kids and even cats. These middle aged pups would be great for someone who doesn’t want to go through the puppy stage and would enjoy having well mannered companions.

Breeze
Breeze is a 1 yr old Lab/Shepherd mix and he’s such a good boy. He is friendly, does well with other dogs and children. He met our office kitty without incident. He’s good on the leash, but still need some basic training. Breeze has also done at least one “beach day” with a volunteer where he was amazing and well mannered. He’s a super smart dog who just wants his own human (s).
Shelby
Shelby is a one year old Lab mix and is full of life! This beauty loves her walks and the people who walk her. Shelby would do best in a home with active people and an opportunity to run and play. She is a climber so a securely fenced yard is a must. Shelby would be a great candidate for any dog sport, including obedience or even dock diving. She sits on command, too.
