Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade & Festival: February 27-28, 2026
The Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade is one of the most anticipated pet-friendly events of the year, and the Franklin County Humane Society is proud to be part of the celebration. This colorful parade features dogs of all shapes and sizes dressed in creative costumes alongside their human companions, all in the name of fun and fundraising.
Each year’s theme inspires imaginative floats, festive outfits, and plenty of tail-wagging excitement. While the event is packed with Mardi Gras spirit, it also serves a greater purpose: 100% of the proceeds support local animal rescue organizations, including FCHS. By joining the Mardi Gras Barkus Parade, you are not only celebrating Apalachicola-style, but you are also helping the forgotten pets of the Forgotten Coast.
Brewfest: April 18, 2026
The St. George Island Brewfest is the largest annual fundraiser for the Franklin County Humane Society and one of the most popular craft beer events in Florida. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gulf near the St. George Island Lighthouse Park, this seaside celebration brings together breweries from across the country, craft beer lovers, locals, and visitors for a day of tastings, music, and community spirit.
Brewfest offers dozens of unique beers to sample, live entertainment, and an FCHS adoption station, where attendees can meet and adopt pets looking for their forever homes. All proceeds from the event directly benefit FCHS, funding essential shelter improvements, medical care, community rabies clinics, and spay/neuter programs. By attending Brewfest, you are not only enjoying a day of great beer, sunshine, and salty breezes, you are helping us provide a safe haven, loving care, and second chances for the forgotten pets of the Forgotten Coast.
