The American Humane Assoc. statistics state that 10 million animals are euthanized (put to sleep) annually ; 56% of all dogs and 76% of all cats.  We at FCHS are striving to do our part to end this tragic situation, through fund raising, education, community awareness, volunteer & fostering programs, and more.  Our little facility is working towards an effecient overall program to make the unnecessary suffering of our companion animals a thing of the past.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Humane Society is a little not for profit facility nestled in the woods at the edge of the Tate's Hell National Forest, a little over a mile from the Gulf.  We have been in existence since 1991.  We were born of the desire & hard work, initiated by our wonderful Franklin County Veterinarian, Dr. Hobson Fulmer, to have a facility that could better the lives or our many homeless animals.  Though the journey has had many struggles we are continuing to grow and re-invent ourselves to better serve the wonderful furry babies that come into, and hopefully, happily out of our lives (but not out of our hearts!) to loving forever homes. We are a non-profit organization operating in Franklin County, Florida. Our mission is to relieve animal suffering, prevent animal cruelty, eliminate animal overpopulation, promote humane education, and to enhance the human to animal bond.
